So if you have already promoted bonnie at level 55 can you still do the quest with a friend?

You can't help a friend with a promotion quest, it's a solo instance.

That's what i figured deleted my second string level 70 swashbuckler and then leveled back up too there farmed Swing and am now currently back at level 63.

Yep I was off till Jan 3rd from work so I made a big run. No side quests and lots of companions playing hurt! lol. Had some good luck as well.
