Give him a real challenge: Figure out a song to fit Mancini's Baby Elephant Walk. Make it harder: It has to be based in Cool Ranch.

Good luck, Valkoor!

Challenge Accepted.

Make a parody of Ring-A-Ding-Ding! about a smuggler who has no remorse for his life of crime.

Hmmmm.....how do you parody an instrumental. I know, I'll play it with a kazoo, a washboard, spoons and a didgeridoo, maybe some cricket wings too-- all at the same time and post the notes that come out! And make it sound Cool Ranch-y, of course.

Okay, this could be trouble and may take some time to de-compose...but I'll see what I can do.

Whoah boy! I just checked out the lyrics and I must say, that's a pretty cool song. I had never heard of it before, but it's quite a powerful combination of love, battle, courage and devotion. I just may weep as I'm making the parody...but I'll give it my best shot and try to remain strong!

I just knew you'd come through, Finn! Ring-A-Ding-Ding with a Spiral Zing! Hmmm...almost sounds like a perfect fit for Ratbeard. No, on second thought...that might be Ring-A-Ding-Dong!

It might take me a couple of days, but I'll try to do Sinatra proud...actually he'd probably shake his head and smack me across the chops, with what I may end up producing. Oh, well...all in the name of fun-- no shame in my game!

Thank you, Chrissy, Esperanza and Anne. Ratty loves his cheesie gravy!! I'm glad you enjoyed them and actually stuck around long enough to finish reading/singing them. I thought for sure you all might hit your own personal flee buttons, mid-groans.

It's been a busy day and a half so I don't have any new parodies up and running yet. But suffice to say, they are rattling around in this melon of mine. I hope to get 3 or 4 songs up by some time tomorrow. Many are nearly finished, just need that time on the computer-- those little letters on my phone make for a fiddling fiasco for my fingers. Dare I say, I may even have Fiorenza's offering ready soon.

And Talon...I eagerly await your request and any others out there that may like to get in on the Spiral fun. That's a good idea about creating a separate thread just for the parodies and one i had considered. I'll see about doing that and seeing if it will be ok with Bonnie, if i "copy and paste" the actual requests and songs to a future thread. We'll see what time provides , though.

And just a note. This idea wasn't conceived as a way to challenge me (though I do embrace a stiff and fun challenge). But instead it's just a way to have some fun and share our excitement for P101. So any who would like to make a request, make sure you pick a song you enjoy and would just like to see a Spiral spin applied to it-- all in good and supportive fun for KI and the game. And please feel free to add your own parodies, if any wish to.

Next up, a parody for Smoke on the Water. Stay tuned.....from rock anthem, to love anthem??? Could it be....we shall see.

I actually listened to the song with your lyrics in place.

This had my attention for a while, so I've been thinking long and hard about what songs you could "pirate up". Two actually came to mind:

The theme song from Aladdin, and "Somewhere over the Rainbow".

I hope I picked some good ones.

Perfect choices....and from two of my all-time favorite movies! And nothing says that pirates can't slow it down a notch or two, and enjoy some sweet and melodious music.

I'll add them uto my list of requests and get to dabblin' with some lyrics. If all goes well, time-wise, all requests up to yours will be posted by Monday morning. Some over the weekend depending on the boards getting updated.

Oh, I've also added some of my own personal requests to the list. Seems Hendrix, War, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Louis Armstrong, Michael Jackson & friends, Better Midler, Alabama, James Brown, Percy Sledge, Bruce Springsteen, Spice Girls, Howlin' Wolf, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Beyonce(?), Fallout Boy...and so many more, want to get in on this Spiral action! Will, they all make appearances? I don't know, but they're all presenting some good arguments as to why they should be a part of the pirate parody party. At least they are in my head!

Thank you for the requests, Hoodoo Mistress...this evening I just may be enjoying some Wizard of Oz with my own munchkins.

Fiorenza..I'm embarrassed to say that I came up with the first version before I realized there were actual lyrics to 'Baby Elephant Walk'!! I honestly was not familiar with the song so when I Googled it, I just watched the first couple of videos. Instrumentals, so I assumed..no actual lyrics. The 1st version was made up based solely on the delightful instrument "chatter". Then last night I actually Googled 'lyrics to...walk', & wouldn't you know!!! So, I made a 2nd version using Mancini's lyrics. Either way...tough song!

Lazy Tumbleweed Waltz

Lazy tumbleweed slowly rollin'
Crazy Bumbaloons float on by...and byyyy-- keep on rollin'
Little tumbleweed keeps a rollin'

flippin' and skippin'- tumbleweed rollin', just Santo Pollo strollin'

Santo Pollo winds, don't stop blowin'
Little tumbleweed's gotta keep goin' on...and ooon-- keep a'rollin'
Blazin' Cool Ranch sun is a glowin'
.
Hey look, there's Sally, in that valley
Lazy lil' tumbleweed keeps a rollin', just Santo Pollo stollin'
.
Here comes trouble (oh no what's this?)
Lost it's tumble (no more windage!)
.
Hazy horizon is a showin'
Lazy tumbleweed keeps on rollin', my...oh myyy
Little tumbleweed were you goin'
.
Here in Junction, a tumbleweed's function
is to be free flowin'- just'a Cool Ranch rollin'
.
Lazy Tumbleweed Walk
(Say WHAAAT!!, version)
.
Tumbleweed you move so slow, but groovy
Watch as lazy Bumbaloons float high.
Just keep on moovin'
Puts me in a trance- just roll on by!
I watch you tumble, your quite a jumbled distraction
Lazy tumbleweeds in action walk.
.
See the big brown bull, he's Don Rodrigo
Watch the lazy tumbleweeds go dance
There's tres amigos
All the loco locals- in a trance.
Come to Santo Pollo and see distractions.
Lazy tumbleweeds in action walk.
.
If you plan on sailin' to Arroyo,
Don't dare bring your best shoes!
The land is dusty, with extra shares of the tumblin' blues.
Come to ol' Junction, you'll see a wonderful distraction.
Lazy tumbleweeds in action walk.

Here's your 3rd request, Esperanza. I must say that this one was actually a bit tougher than the others. Mostly because the original song was already a near-perfect fit, lyrically, for Madame Vadima. So making a parody of something that already works, and without using the original lyrics, was a bit more challenging! I decided that my goofy side, still needed 'scratching', so I came up with a "tragedy, turned victory" version based on satisfying that 'itch'.

Here's your pirate-y parody of Eagles, 'Witchy Woman'.
.
Hoodoo Woman
Craving fare and salty chips,
Park my tail as hunger hits.
Hoodoo touched in the night,
Need a saving spirit to help my plight.
You-whoo, I’m itchy woman- you got a cure-all insi-i-i-ide?
Wooo-soo itchy woman, I got this rash on my thi-i-i-i-igh!
She told me, “calm down, it’s alright.”
Crafted potions through the night.
Hazy cauldron- “It’ll be done soon.”
As I scratch my leg and stir with a crooked spoon.
You-hoo, which way woman- normal or counter clockwi-i-i-ise?
Oooo-ooo, this way pirate, you got to stir with all your mi-i-i-i-ight!
Well I know she’s not my mother- I respect her like no other.
She’s been healing me and keeping me fed.
When there’s some Hoodoo going round,
Madame can be found!
She can cure you any ol’ time, if your skin turns red.
Woo-hoo bless you woman, see how hard she tri-i-i-ies.
Wooo-oot, Hoodoo woman, you got that rash right off my thi-i-i-i-igh!
...
.
LOVE THAT SONG!!! And just about anything from Eagles, for that matter. Hope you enjoyed it.

Hey there, Jack. Here's your pirate-y parody based on Estelle's, 'Stronger Than You'. Wow, this was a tough one & I didn't really know what to use for that 'I am made of love' part. But I thought that with you being the hidden & shadowy swashy that you are, 'I am made of fog' seemed fitting. I tried my best to make the lyrics work..quite challenging!
.
Stronger Than Moo
.
This is Morgan,
Jack-so-clever.
And I’m never bowing down to my foes and the evil Moo.
Because I’m a buckler
And every part of me is bringing the thunder!
.
And you can trust, we’ll never follow you fools!
Coming at you with skills trained in 5 pirate schools!
Let’s go, face me and crew!
Let’s go, coming for you!
.
Horns on head, you try and stop me- you’re not able.
Could it just be that you’re straight out of the stable!
I can see, you hate how we cause an upheaval..
But I think you’re just a mad cow that’s evil!
.
And you’ll never be on top, when we fight together.
We will never lose, not today or ever!
Try to tear us apart? You crazy whacked moo-er!
You’ll just end up like steak on this pirate’s skewer!
.
I am made
O-o-o-o-of
Fo-o-o-o-og.
O-o-o-o-of
.
Fo-o-o-o-og.
Fo-o-o-o-og.
Fo-o-o-o-og.
.
You can try so hard.
Stop me if you can.
Moo, if you think you can stop me.
Then you just might meet your end.
.
Cause I am a pirate,
With a will that never bends.
And you won’t even touch this Captain.
I’m coming at you with my friends.
.
Go ahead and try to stop me, you’re not able.
Frozen Tide, Infernal Wave can’t turn the tables.
I’ll be that nightmare- that something you’re afraid of.
‘Cause I’m brave and skill is what I’m made of.
.
What? I will never stand with the five of them.
Everything that’s fair and proud, that’s what I am.
I am a flurry, I am a whisper.
I am your downfall, Mister!
.
I am made
O-o-o-o-of
Fo-o-o-o-og
O-o-o-o-of

Hmmm........

Challenge Accepted.

Make a parody of Ring-A-Ding-Ding! about a smuggler who has no remorse for his life of crime.
Finn.....how ya been? Here's your pirate-y parody for Sinatra's, 'Ring-A-Ding-Ding'. I used the "smuggler's life of crime" theme, but the lyrics aren't quite as "ruthless" as you may have hoped for. But I think it still paints the picture of a "Boss who's in charge of the Sauce!"

.
Here you go!
.
Cha - Ching - a - Ching - Ching
Won--der--ful, are all things when you rule.
And corruption is your best tool.
And crime’s so appealin’.
That’s life when you’re a’stealin’ and enjoy smugg--a--ling.
Count your score and…
Cha-ching-a-ching-ching,
ching-a-ching-ching,
ching-a-ching-ching!
All know that hidden face- those pockets lined by every place.
Pirates vanish- leave ne’er a trace-
Without any warning…new town by mid-morning,
Right time for pullin’ strings.
Fear with reverence!
Cha-ching-a-ching-ching,
ching-a-ching-ching,
ching-a-ching-ching!
You lead this band- this vagabonding creature!
You shake their hands and with just one look.
You’ve become a premiere feature!
You did well; you’re off with “hot” goods to sell.
And no one could even tell.
You bound to Squid Vicious- not a soul suspicious.
Love those smuggled up things and your smile says…
Cha-ching-a-ching-ching,
ching-a-ching-ching,
ching-a-ching-ching!
You walk this land, a charismatic creature!
All goes as planned, and with goods you took-
Making for the nearest seashore!
Life is swell, you’re off once again to sell.
Without care, you pillage well.
A hound causing upheaval, swashbuckling the people!
Swipe the loveliest things and your smile says…
Cha-ching-a-ching-ching,
ching-a-ching-ching,
ching-a-ching-ching!
A-ching-a-ching-ching,
ching-a-ching-ching!
Cha-ching-a-ching-ching!!!
.
Thanks for the request, Finn and I hoped you enjoyed it!

I actually listened to the song with your lyrics in place.

This had my attention for a while, so I've been thinking long and hard about what songs you could "pirate up". Two actually came to mind:

The theme song from Aladdin, and "Somewhere over the Rainbow".

I hope I picked some good ones.
Why hiya, Hoodoo Mistress. Here's one of your pirate-y parody requests, for ya! For Aladdin's, 'A Whole New World', I thought that it would be great to change it up a bit. That song is such a magical, "opposites attract" love song about romance forbidden, yet found. But I thought that the pirate-y girls of the Spiral deserved a "We girls kick tail too", anthem that speaks of their tush-kickin'-talents! And putting it to such a slow and magical song, just seemed to really emphasize that you'd be wise to not judge a pirate by it's cover!
.
So, here you go!
.
A Bold Brave Girl
I can steal you a pearl,
Hiding..scurrying- blending.
Ask that Cutthroat, how then did
He manage to lose his eye?
I can wear a disguise,
Taking booty by plunder.
Over skyways and yonder,
In an instant, out of sight!
A pirate girl,
A brave Captain with her crew.
Sail where we want to go and where we know,
We’ll stay in this feeling.
A hidden girl,
A shadowed face you never knew.
And when I disappear, you’re filled with fear.
And now you’re trapped inside my world, poor you!
And know that this bold brave girl, beat you!
Unbelievable snipes-
The perpetual bombing!
Gunning, blasting, sharpshooting
A relentless Eagle-Eye!
A dead-eye girl-
(Don’t you dare try to hide!)
A wondrous talent, yes that’s me-
(Bold and brave, a go-getter)
I’ve traveled near and far-
Under the stars.
I won’t give up
This life of piracy!
A Hoodoo girl-
(Every turn, mojo flies.)
With abilities, to subdue-
(Every power gets better!)
Living without a care-
It’s time to dare,
Anywhere, for this
Captain and crew.
A fearless girl,
Tough as can be.
With deadly grace,
Without a trace
Of fear you see….
...
Hope you enjoyed it-- YOU GIRLS ROCK!!! Keep on kickin' tail!

...and here's your second request for a pirate-y parody of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow'. This may be one of my favorites that I attempted. I even may, or may not have, teared up a little bit-- those poor puppies! But I just know they'll find happy homes to howl in.
.
I bring you....
.
Above the Benbow
Up the-e-e-re, above the Benbow- Orphans si-i-igh.
There they stand, Marleybone moon in puppy dogs’ eyes.
Up the-e-e-re, above the Benbow- Howls in tu-u-une.
And with dreams, little dogs believe howls can reach that moon.
One day they’ll fish and venture far
And wake up in some loving arms…
…finally-y-y-y-y!
Where joy is felt and sorrow stops,
That day with love from moms and pops.
That’s whe-e-erre that mo-o-o-o-n leads!
Up the-e-e-re, above the Benbow- big eyes wi-i-ide.
Moon flies over the Benbow, changing the skyways tide.
Such hopeful little orphans dream-
Above the Benbow-- Marleybone moon…do-o-on’t.,..hi-i-i-i-i-i-ide!
...
I hope you enjoyed it and thank you for joining in the parody party and the fun. I've had a blast doing my best to tackle the requests and you all sure have come through with some amazing songs for me to attempt to parody.
