HAPPY 7TH BIRTHDAY PIRATE101!

null

Pirate101’s 7th birthday is coming up on October 15th! Many Pirates joined us for last week’s birthday themed KI Live as we spilled the beans on new content for the game. Hot on the heels of KI Live, a new content update was released earlier this week as we gear up to celebrate the birthday. Check out both the Update Notes and last week’s Producer’s Letter for details on what’s been added to the game!

A Pirate's Preview of the update notes:

  • New Skeleton Key Bosses of an evil sort: Black Annie Rackham and Verminius Blightbeard
  • Improvements to the FTUD (First Time User Difficulty)
  • A bunch of new bubbly elixirs
  • Shiny new 7th Birthday Gifts
  • Various gameplay improvements
Have you challenged Black Annie Rackham and Verminius Blightbeard? Let us know what you think of these new bosses!

We also have coming up later this month a new Pack, Halloween Mount, and more!

To keep ye in the know, let’s take a look back at the September skyway activities: Keep updated daily on the latest news to hit the skyways for next month on Twitter and Facebook!

macOS Update Warning – Access to Pirate101

Apple will be releasing the macOS Catalina update anytime now. If you upgrade right away to Catalina, you will not be able to play Wizard101 or Pirate101.

The good news is that we’re working on making both games Catalina compatible. To ensure your game access is not interrupted, please wait to install Catalina until we announce full support for the new OS.

Thanks for your patience as we work on this functionality. We will notify you once support for Catalina becomes available!

KI Live Livestream with Bat Masterson & Professor Falmea

KI Live in September was rockin’ the boat with all sorts of Pirate101 shenanigans, including both the game’s birthday and the new content that just went into the game! Watch the show below on YouTube:

A great Pirate101 tip from this month’s KI Live comes from community member Lookit Light:

“Aside from the fun combat and the exciting Skyways, one of the great elements of Pirate101 is its great storyline. Take some time to listen to the character's dialogue, and you'll see a well-written plot, exceptional speech, and just flat out humor here and there!” - Lookit Light

Special Swordroll's Blog Guest Post

With KingsIsle’s QA Tester – Kayly Ginsberg (aka Vanessa Mythdust!)

null

Swordroll’s Blog released a new developer article with our very own Kayly Ginsberg, aka Vanessa Mythdust! Kayly has always showed interest in sharing her unique journey, so we were both eager and happy to collaborate and make this post happen!

“The tricky part of game development is that if you fix one bug, ten more could potentially be created. Some issues are super easy to spot (a feature not working), but others are harder to find and sometimes almost unnoticeable. For example, each terrain in Wizard101 and Pirate101 has a different sounding footstep. Whenever I test a new zone, I check to make sure that the footstep sound you hear corresponds with what you're walking on. If you're running up to a boss across some dirt, I'm going to make sure that you're actually hearing the dirt sound and not wood, stone, or grass. Little things like that are small details that I never really thought about as a player.” - Kayly Ginsberg

"This is my buccaneer, Victoria. I tried to use marker this time because I had the right colors for her and I haven’t used them in a while." - Eclipse FoxArt

Capture a screenshot of that magnificent sunset, secret discovery, or that monster about to eat your ship and send it to community@pirate101.com. We like showing off fan art, guides, and other content in our newsletters!

Thanks, Pirates!
