Pirate101 Monthly Newsletter

While February may be the shortest month in the year, it’s packed with great highlights. What other months are you going to find holidays like Valentine’s Day and Groundhog’s Day? And what about Super Bowl Sunday? Sure, it isn’t a holiday, but it might as well be! Who ye’ be cheerin’ for, Pirate? The Patriots or the MooShu Falcon? (Oh wait, that’s a quest from Billy Haze on Skull Island not a football team . . . oh well, a pirate can get confused sometimes ~One-Eyed Jack) .

If you like cheering on teams, then the Spar Chamber is definitely where it’s at in Pirate101. While Ranked PvP features 1v1 and the Battle Royal, the Spar Chamber is still a great spot to try your hand at a larger bit of team-based competitive sport. Grab your friends and give it a go!

Speaking of PvP, the Winter Season is half-way through and no matter if the Groundhog sees its shadow or not, the Spring Season is coming around March 20th. Make sure to earn your Winter Hoggle Pet while you can--don’t let these little cute guys flap away!

Of special note this month, the season of friendship and Valentine’s Day will bring a couple of new offerings to the Pirate101 Crown Shop that we hope you enjoy. The theme . . . pink, of course! It’s always pink!

Our third Rogue’s Gallery spotlight on the Mooshu Five centers around the Witchdoctor’s first friend, the humble yet dangerous monk known as Kan Po. Through his promotion quests you help Kan Po rise from a mere student to a master. Many Witchdoctors know his amazing capabilities on the Battleboard, but how much do we know of his humble beginnings?

Kan Po has never had a home. The Golden Horde destroyed his home village in his early youth, and the goat has made his own way in the world ever since, following whatever adventures came his way.

For a time he was the servant of a great scholar and read his master’s entire library of ancient philosophy and poetry. After filling his mind with ancient proverbs, Kan Po tried to make his way as a poet himself – he ended up writing short, profound messages to hide inside crunchy confections. But nothing ever worked out, and the penniless goat found himself starving and alone.

A Moodhist monk found Kan Po sitting under a Yum-Yum tree, and was taken with his mastery of ancient lore. He challenged the goat to turn his back on material wealth, to fill his spirit as he had filled his mind. Kan Po took up the challenge, and became a humble monk. He walked the Spiral helping the unfortunate, dispensing ancient wisdom to any who would listen.

Arrested by the Armada for sedition, he would escape thanks to the help of a fellow prisoner, a pirate who would help the monk achieve his destiny...

This month’s screenshot comes from Tireless Jack Jones, a level 65 Swashbuckler in Pirate101 who shared with us a picture of his beautifully decorated ship cabin, where it snows on the inside!

Decius Duelmaster joined us once again on KI Live and gave a strange hybrid hunter clue: “One of the friendship pets from 2016 plus a pet you can find around Bestia.” The Pirate101 hybrid hunters were instantly on the case, but struggled this time with finding a hybrid. In fact, an accidental hybrid was first discovered before the hybrid from the clue! Clever Brianna Everret posted on the Message boards that a Huggle-Hoggle crossed with a Bunnicorn made a Hunny Bunny, but that wasn’t the hybrid Decius had hinted to.

Fortunately, just before the month was to end, Stormy Jen Silver let us know that the Snuggle Bunny hybrid had been discovered. Good Job, hybrid hunters!

The Official Pirate101 Message boards are always hopping with great discussions and helpful tips. It’s also a fully moderated environment that provides a platform for both young and old alike. Here are a few discussion threads from last month that caught our eye:
