A FESTIVAL OF SPRINGY THINGS

null

Did you adopt a super cute and cuddly Giant Panda Mount during the Spring Festival? We saw so many of these cute creatures roaming around Skull Island with their Pirate companions. Some of the other springy items from the Spring Festival included the Spring Flower Mount, Marshadillow Pets, Batik Eggaloon Pet, and of course the classic Spring Yeti pet, among several others.

There’s still several days to adopt this list of pets and mounts. Let us know what you pick up!

“For the fresh sailors out there, don't move around too much in broadside combat, it draws unwanted attention.” - Amazingshot123

ZONE OF THE MONTH - ISLE OF DOGS

null

Name: The Isle of Dogs

Location: Westminster Skyway, Marleybone

Description:

The Isle of Dogs is the center of trade and shipping in Marleybone, a working-class neighborhood in comparison to the refinement and industrial wealth of Marleybone City, which is faintly visible from the docks. The isle is dominated by massive docks that bustle with shipping from all over the Spiral, and just about anything can be found in the markets and warehouses of the Isle of Dogs if one knows where to look.

The Isle of Dogs is also home to the Admiralty, headquarters of the Royal Navy. The Royal Navy's shipyards are also located here. During the war with the Armada the Islae of Dogs served as the center of the war effort, the front line that protected Marleybone City the Marleybonean heartland.

Don't Miss this Quest!

The Isle of Dogs has a number of side quests – the chain Marleybone Steel has a really nice Doctor Who homage as its payoff, and Kidnapped! Is based on the novel of the same name by Robert Louis Stevenson, author of Treasure Island. But the two promotion quests that center on the Isle of Dogs, Bonnie Anne and Ratbeard's third promotions, are Blind Mew's favorite quests in the entire game.

Behind the Dev Process:

The Isle of Dogs is named for an area in London (just as Marleybone itself is named for the London neighborhood Marylebone), which historically was replete with docks and a center of trade and shipping.

We knew when we started working on Marleybone that the quasi-Victorian steampunk flavors from Wizard101 wouldn't stand up so well in our Age of Sail game, so we pulled the visuals back from the Victorian era to the time of Dickens. That gave us a strong look and feel, and made the game fit with Pirate a lot more smoothly.

Ardent Anglophiles, the writers strove to fill the Isle of Dogs with as many English reference as possible, from the real-life history of the Napoleonic and Second World Wars to Dickens to Stevenson to Doctor Who. Blind Mew himself watched Master and Commander 5 times daily before writing this chapter, and still loves the results.
