Right into it, Obviously as new things are added the usefulness of certain strategies, classes and companions majorly shifts. Most updates add major game changing banns (Blood Flames) or mechanic changes and obviously these changes make older strategies obsolete occasionally. With Valencia part 2 coming for release soon major changes will obviously happen and some classes may fall.
The most obvious change may be Contessa.
Contessa has access to a 5 round hide, gallant defense, and importantly back-stab.
Contessa has access to the combo of first strike 3 and gallant defense which will make swashbuckler struggle with said set.
The combo of first strike 3 gallant defense will result in swashbucklers most likely running bonnie more often as a counter and such things will be adapted to such changes.
Another important thing to keep in mind in back-stab's bleeding DOT, this will result in piercing levy call and will also slightly nerf buccaneers as they generally have fairly low health to abuse tide and elusive, however first strike three leaves her vulnerable to critical chains, and without it Contessa will be weak to hides due to being a buckler and thus having terrible bulk.

Another thing to keep in mind, is the fact Kane's gear for privy grants hold the line, this will make most privateers slightly more defensive and will make physical privateers better as access to hold the line 3 repel borders 3 will counter the turn the tide 3 elusive 3 buccaneers that basically made many privateer sets useless late game. The access to hold the line 3 repel borders 3 will also result in privateers most likely using ratbeard less as that was his mane function and his first strike three job is now likely to be replaced by contessa.

Also, the move first mate's boon will make magic based privateers even more offensive as they can pressure fort nausica hard with various relentless bucks that now hit much harder, which will itself most likely result in two groups of privateers, hyper offensive magic based, and defensive physical based.

Worth mentioning, is that now bucks get tide 3 by trainer, the tide 3 elusive 3 combo will be that much more common yet again making hold the line three repel borders three that much more effective. This combo is a major reason buccaneers where so difficult to bucklers and privateers pre scratch update.

Something worth mentioning is that the common scorpion staff privateer has been about 99% of privy sets and these can struggle with buccaneers late game especially if scratch was killed early, or the privy was to pressured to have time to big guns.

As of the scratch update the many purely scorpion or magic based sets struggled with extremely quick buccaneers that either charged to fast for setup or the magic users had no time for cards. Depending on which way most people tilt to, offensive or defensive, buccaneers may be the go to anti meta-game threat, which discourages setup and often rushes to fast for that to be an option.
