Many players like to make multi-classed characters which is fun and works quite well, but many of the talents only trigger a couple spaces away while characters are often using a shooty melee weapon or a staffy melee weapon that only has a range of one. When using weapons that only have a range of one these talents should be made to still go off and work, so the range at which they trigger needs to be based upon weapon type.

You are talking about combo weapons that include a ranged weapon with a melee weapon. Ranged talent attacks won't trigger with a melee weapon equipped, either solo or combo. If you want to have those talents trigger, use a staffy/shooty combo.

Additionally, if a Privateer is using a ranged weapon ( combo with staff or shooty, or solo ) their Repel Boarders won't activate.
I believe there is a coding problem that prevents this from happening.

Strongly disagree. Making these talents trigger based on weapon range would end up being a nerf, in my opinion (there was a period of time when staffy weapons functioned like this). High range weapons (such as Phule's Wand and the Haywire Thunder Rifle) would have their overwatch/readied attacks triggering at 6+ range. This means that many enemies in PvE and PvP alike would either naturally spawn inside overwatch range (most small pve boards) or be able to easily bypass it by entering range while being out of sight (PvE boards with obstacles, pretty much all ranked PvP boards). This would make these talents much worse for a majority of the population, with the only real benefit coming to melee + ranged/staffy hybrid players.

It might be worth considering to make the max range overwatch and readied could trigger at 2, which would essentially mean that melee shooty or melee staffy weapons have all their epics functioning, while true ranged weapons still have their overwatches triggering at 2 range.
