Kingsisle, did you think the bug of adding yourself was gone? Nope. There are other plenty of ways to add yourself that I think should be fixed. One way is having a friend that you haven't seen in a long time / uninstalled and re installed the game talk to you. You could then click the person's name in the chat log and then add yourself. Another way is by fighting a ship with a boss on it and clicking the icon of the boss which then allows you to add yourself.
