cannot get to bestia!

I am not able to access bestia with any of my characters! i know the little scroll at the bottom should appear and i should click 'x', but . . . . . it isnt working, the scroll NEVER EVER appears. is there a special way to do this, or do i just go temporarily blind anytime that it shows up?
