What does weapon power do for witchdoctors?

Spell power seems to be the only real factor in spell damage for witchdoctors, so what stops someone from using a level 1 staff of anubis just for mojo echo or a level 10 phule's wand just for witch hunter forever? Is just a normal attack from you staff the only thing effected by the weapon power? Does that even matter much to a witch doctor if we have so many spells? Any clarification would be really appreciated. Thanks!

The staff ( or staff combo ) you choose to use has a base weapon damage. Certain factors can enhance this base damage though not spell power buffs ( which affect only the spell & is added to the base weapon damage ).
For example: choosing MooShu as an origin gives an extra 5 to damage, using Walk in Shadows or Walk in Darkness also adds to weapon damage. Some Privy buffs can also enhance damage.
You don't need either of those weapons to get those talent attacks, as you gain in levels you can train Mojo Echo and Witch Hunter, so use the strongest staffy or staffy combo you like!
