The Reason Hoard Packs Don't Come Often

I've noticed here and there that many Pirate's have been yearning for more Hoard Packs to come out. I would love to see more hoard packs as well, but I would like to point out reasons why Pirate101's packs don't come out as often as Wizard101's

Pirate101's Hoard Packs (based off of the Tribal Crew Pack) have much more work done on them than Wizard's. In Wizard101, most packs are over filled with in-game and other Crown shop furniture items, pets and treasure cards and few "pack original" items. As for gear, Wizard101 only makes up to 3 sets of gear with universal abilities and typically have the same design only in a different color. This means they don't have to spend so much time on gear design. They'll have one set conceptualized and then change the color. Same goes for the wands.
Typically, only one new pet is advertised and any other new ones are left on the side and don't get much attention. Same for the mounts, only one new mount is really advertised or actually in the pack itself. Wizard's oldest packs (the late Dragon's Hoard pack, Raven Hoard Pack, and Wyvern's Pack) used to feature these "side" mounts to offset the major ones (Dragon Wings, Varying Wyverns, regular Raven) if you didn't get the main one, but this has stoped as of late.

So how is Pirate101 different?

Well, from the Tirbal Crew Pack, it would seem that the housing items are 100% Tribal Crew Pack original. You can not find them anywhere else in our game. Treasures are unique to this pack and will most likely continue into newer ones (more concepts). Instead of just one mount to try and search for, there are 5 mounts to look out for, which means more concept art and work to make them into the game. Pets vary for everyone and you can't find all of them ingame (Skeletal Skysnake, and Scrimshaw Dragon pets)
On top of that, you have over 60 gear sets, 5 sets for every 10 levels that focuses on the power of each school. This includes minor gear pieces like Tokens, Charms, Necklaces, and Rings. So instead of 3 pieces like in Wizard, you have 5 sets to use (more work). Same for the weapons. You have tons of weapons to include for each class. It's much harder to go universal in this game.
Then you have to include Pirate101's one thing that gives it's name (other than Pirates): the Companions! KI has to come up with around 3-5 Companions for the packs. That includes coming up with stats, the powers, the animations, the criticals, the design of them.

So much more work goes into Pirate101's packs compared to Wizard101's. You really can't throw just anything into 'em and expect everyone to work with it. Something made for a Buccaneer may not work for a Witchdoctor. You need a lot of variety so everyone has something to use. Plus you're including Pack original items rather than throwing in items from the game. AND Pirate101's team in smaller than Wizards's. It's a lot more work, but I think it's well worth it. Who knows what the next Pack will hold?

Nicely thought out and carefully researched. Very well done.

Plus, KI may have incorporated the feedback of not releasing hoard packs so quickly, that was prevalent on the Wizard101 and Wizard101Central message boards awhile back.

There certainly is a lot more to offer with Pirate101 packs.
