May we please have a tutorial on how to get into the Ashes of the Armada Dreadnaught? Some players were confused as to how to get in. Like:
Do you have to sink an armada ship to be able to target the dreadnaught?

hehe. You know, my update notes used to have a lot more information in them, but Ratbeard took an edit pen to them with the comment that discovery of how this side content works will be part of the fun.

Some players were very confused about the whole deal.
1. A few of my friends ( as well as myself ) were expecting to get a notice about the Dreadnaught invading Skull Island Skyway. I simply got on my ship and sailed; found it with no problems. But it would make more sense if Captain Avery expressed some concern about an Armada presence in Skull Island, after all, it's his home.
2. Without guidance, many players were expressing frustration ( instead of joy ). No one was saying "Gee, I'm having the time of my life trying to figure out how to target/bust into this Dreadnaught. Now don't anyone tell me how it's done, I want to figure it out myself."

Suggestion: at least have Capt. Avery ask us to investigate the Armada Dreadnaught threatening Skull Island. If Ratbeard wants us to have the fun of 'discovery', then leave off any directions.

I agree, some sort of "guidance" for this would help out sooo much, everyone seemed pretty lost at first (myself included). It's great and all to have to "discover" things (that's the fun of pirating, aye?) but there is too much of a lack of information to go off of, it could be very troubling.

And I know you just said exactly this, but I had the very same thought! It's probably a good thing for feedback purposes though.

Hey now... Let's not confuse "bugs" with "the fun of discovery!"

Actually...this is Test Realm. Let's do exactly that. It's the joy of discovering bugs!

But seriously-- I asked Jack not to give directions to the battle.

I'm still smarting over my hidden trainers being revealed on the mini map.

To get in, sink the dreadnought, and it will turn into a dockable instance. Board away-- but be quick about it.

And it's meant to be a surprise attack (more rare on Live, I think...) and Avery simply wouldn't have much information to go on.

I couldn't seem to target the Ashes until I had defeated an escort.

That's not intended.

I know that the tech artists were looking today at expanding the hit box, but in the meantime-- have you tried targeting using TAB?

Ooh! The joys of discovering bugs & a Rogue Armada Dreadnought going haywire across Skull Island Skyway.

What's next, a new, unleashed Rogue Armada Station harboring the latest experimental, untested Armada weapons and troops Kane and Bishop were building appearing in Monquista or somewhere else? Can that be next after this goes Live?

Seriously, though, I'm all good for seeking that no one's gonna say where it's located.

The other matter in that case would also apply to more new secret bosses, even if I would like to see more(really, I would)... however, that's for a different topic in another time.

If it's meant to be a surprise attack, when it comes to Live maybe we could have a siren alert/system message? How cool would that be? "Captain Avery -- calling all ships!"

A real Call to Arms for all high-level pirates to board their ships in defense of the realm!

That exciting, Willowydream! It would give a feeling of a real emergency.

Don't you mean using brackets? If we Tab we will go into ship deck mode and stop driving our ship.

I believe because that gauntlet will be showing up at random times, a siren and announcement would help alert players - I've been in one MMO where it was announced that a certain boss had showed up.
Is this what you were thinking?

I think that would work well. I play other games that have an all game announcement when a big boss spawns. Generally it is for the seasonal bosses. The announcement alerts players to go to the spawn point or to avoid it with all speed if they don't want to get trounced lol.
