Dr. Seuss' Birthday

Here is a little parody Sam Underhill and I wrote in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday:

I am Sam, Sam I am.
I am Anne, Anne I am.

Ahoy there! said Anne to Sam.
Ahoy back, for I am Sam!

Sam, let us sail without a care,
Sail while the wind is blowing fair.

Let’s look for buried treasure,
Or dig for clams at our leisure.
Let’s tack into the morning clouds,
And hear the wind play on the shrouds!

But look, Sam, look!
Take your nose out of that book!
What are those ships off in the sky?
What are those ships that pass near by?

I do not like them in the sky,
I do not like them flying by,
I do not like those ships you see,
They look Armada-ish to me.

Would you like them here or there,
Would you like them anywhere?
Would you like them in your house,
Would you like them with a Mouse?

I would not, could not in my house,
But I would face them with a Mouse.
For though I often her need to heal
There’s none with a sword like Sarah Steele!

Would you like them on the docks,
Would you, could you with a Fox?

I would face them on the docks,
I would face them with a Fox.
No finer friend, I must relate,
Is Bonnie Anne, my First mate!

Would you, could you on a boat,
Would you, could you with a Goat?

Gladly would I on a boat,
Gladly would I with a Goat.
Another thing you ought to know,
For on my crew, I have Kan Po.

We do not like those ships, you see,
They look Armada-ish to me.
So we will fight them in the air,
Yes, we will fight them - EVERYWHERE!

It's too wet to go out, too cold to play ball
it's not fun to sit and do nothing at all.
Turn on the computer, log in and play;
Let's pretend we are PIRATES today!

There on the screen, do you see that fat cat?
yes, I looked, I saw him, a Cat in a Hat!

( thank you, Anne for a wonderful treatment of Green Eggs and Ham; I grew up reading Dr. Suess )
