Whoa, there! I like the enthusiasm, but don't go too crazy on throwing your crowns out too fast. Keep the spending moderated.

This is for you for when you return.

Well I just opened some... got no companion but many weapons, among which are some oddities...

Like an agi-based slashy weapon, is that intended?

I haven't seen a single pet. Are there any pets in this pack? Despite the ( low ) risk of gaining an Armada ( shudder ) companion, I threw down nearly 5K in crowns and got some weapons and furnishings. My Buck and Witch are happily redecorating their home in Grizzleheim & Krok styles!
I'm guessing the truly juicy stuff will be in the Dreadnaught!

And, on a different note... to those who are in the game, spread the word! The newest booster pack for P101 is here! Those who are long-standing, your needs for a new booster pack is here once more!

Anyone who's reading this, tell everyone you know about this new pack, both inside and outside of the game! They need to know about this!

My comments about the new pack, it's really amazing! We get more new companions, some amazing weapons, neat furniture, and plenty of other things, too!

Also, thanks KingsIsle, for bringing in a new booster pack to P101! It's been so long since we've had one! It was about time! Keep making more like them!

I am really liking this pack. I have not found any of the companions yet, but almost every pack has had a weapon - sometimes two - and they are nice weapons! And weapons you can stitch.

Thanks, KI!

Rogan picked up the halberd chap - a buccaneer. His official designation is "Haywire Marine", but we call him Alonzo since el Toro opined he looks like an Alonzo.

At level 70 he has 3 x Haywire Strikes, the one with "unpredictable results".

I don't think there are any pets. Not only after spending a fair few crowns I saw neither scale nor feather, fur nor fin, but also because in the official announcement it did not mention any pets.

Maybe there will be new pets in our Birthday present packages though!

Got a companion - some sort of musketeer. Not sure how I feel about the armada companions. A bit disappointed, since Blind Mew had made it pretty clear he didn't see random clockworks joining our crew, and so now how am I to tell when a clockwork is "friendly" or "evil"?

On the other hand, a ranged fighter for my witchdoctor is no bad thing.

While waiting for the elusive Dreadnaught, one player claimed that his ship came from this pack. I can not confirm this rumor!!!

Low risk indeed! My 4th pack opening gave my Witchoctor the Buckler companion!

Well everyone, my fortunes with pack companions has continued...

I was lucky enough to recruit all 4 Haywire companions on the same pirate, Valkoor. Surprisingly it didn't take nearly as many Crowns/Packs as it took to get all 6 Bears and all 5 Dinos on Valkoor. Though with those packs there are an extra 1-2 companions in the packs. It did take quite a while to land my 1st Armada companion, a good bit less to hit on the 2nd one and then the last 2 came relatively quickly and close to each other. I took some screenshots and posted a thread on Central so you all could take a look at them.

Here's the link: Ashes of the Armada-- All Companions Recruited

Anyways, best of luck to everyone on recruiting their own heaps of metal....oh wait, they're on our side now (how weird is that!?!?!)

One last thing...I only recommend trying to get them all (or all of the other pack companions) if you have the resources/means to do so. It is a gamble, after all, and it may take 4 packs or it may take 400 packs-- so please spend wisely. But best of luck to you all!

I wish I had your luck.......I spent 16000 Crowns on the Armada pack and just pulled housing stuff and weapons.

Yours look different. A bit more "weathered," shall we say. More piratey.

I particularly like the skull & crossbones on the Marine.

Thank you, Ratbeard. I was almost sure of this ( he was using a Seaspray Beluga ) but, since I only got a few packs, how was I to know? It's really bad to call out another pirate as a liar.

Would it help if you thought of them as wind-up toys instead?

I still have mixed feelings.

Congrats, Valkoor. Were you buying the packs beside the freetrader in Avery's court? I saw you there, but I was on one of my pirates that doesn't know you and you looked too busy for me to interrupt and say howdy.

For me I'm seeing it as a good thing, as now I'm trying a different battle strategy I'm dubbing "The Celebrity", in which my WD is protected by the new swashy, El Toro and my recently acquired Helephant, who play the roles of my personal escort whom protect me from the paparazzi (the enemies) as I move about the field whilst dropping summons (my adoring fans) and Blood's flames (the lightshow.) I'm having fun with this play style, it's more engaging than playing Old Scratch, Jamaican Shark and Mormo, which became quite stagnant very quickly.

If you do get an Armada companion Anecorbie, I've got an idea for a possible solution for you.

Create a dungeon/prison within your house and place your newly captured Armada prisoners there until they reveal all the information they can about Kane's grand design to you. That way you'll never use them and from aesthetic point of view, their not really part of your crew if they're a prisoner of war, are they?

Your idea is very well thought out and in my Rake's Lagoon house, there is a wrecked Armada prison ship - that's where they'll go ( if I'm "unlucky" enough to recruit one).
I'm very glad that you're enjoying your new crewmember. Please understand that I'm not grudging those who wish to get one - but, I wish these companions were in the crown shop instead of in a pack.

Consider it done, I'll jump in game and send you a couple of packs...oh wait, that's a "DO NOT", without the wink.
I wouldn't do that to you Esperanza, knowing your viewpoint on recruiting those ratchety, robotic, rogue, reprogrammed, Armada renegades.

Truthfully, I don't really care to have an Armada for a companion either...I just enjoy playing the role of The Collector. Though it will be pretty neat to take a full set into The Machine (and/or Dreadnought) and let the fun begin. I think Ratbeard should have given them all a special power called maybe...Defector or Faulty Fire or Grinding Gears or Erratic Engagement or Malfunction or Wane of Kane (I like that last one) that is specifically meant to target, weaken and malfunction Kane and other Boss/Elite Armada Agents. But some do get that Haywire Strike and it's "unpredictable effects"...which is pretty cool and quite fitting for being unstable mechanoids.

But yeah, I just like to collect the pack companions-- no matter what kind they are. KI could put Formidable Fruit companions in the next booster pack and I'd be quite tempted to go try to bag and gobble them up-- yep, they would be ripe for the pickin'.

My Armada crew, seeing as what trouble their kind caused us pirates, will probably end up relegated to Pet Dropping doodie...I mean Pet Wranglin' duty. (after some fun, of course!)
