The Great Black Annie Disaster

Part of this disaster is our fault: we had been playing a bit of Wizard earlier and had noted the servers seemed a bit twitchy. But we switched over to Pirate and decided to have a run against Black Annie Rackham.

It was bloody, but going our way: all the bad doggos were down as were two of the four male foxes, with the remaining two moderately damaged and Annie herself about 20% down. One hero was down, one was wounded but healing, and two were pretty much mint. We had about half our crew up and the three remaining foxes had a bunch of swashbucklers in their face.

Then there was a connection to server interruption. It lasted about 5 seconds. When it reconnected, the server had clearly processed more than one turn – all our crew were down, one of the two unwounded swashbucklers was down and the other had lost 90% of his hit points. While we watched, Annie took at least two additional turns (assuming she can do only one of her heal/buff-type actions per turn). It never let us back into the tactical screen, so we had no opportunity to hide in shadows, heal, etc. It just let Annie run until we were all wiped out.

Again, the interruption in connection wasn’t enough time for her team, even reduced as it was, to complete a single turn, let alone multiple turns. But it was long enough to turn a victory into a crushing defeat.

Disappointing…

And very, very frustrating.

So we beat her up twice this Sunday to make up for it.

Only twice?

We are in frantic clean-up-the-house-for-the-Halloween-party mode.

Also, in general, we are leisurely farmers.

So, going for what should have been our 13th raid.

We have a new router, just to make things more stable.

It was going well: our first wave hit the foxes and we had taken only one casualty, a pet.

Then we had a connection interruption. Less than 5 seconds. All four heroes and every member of the crew present was immediately KO'd. This time it just tossed us back to the Life Fountain, rather than make us watch while Annie took 137 shots in a row.
