(I doubt Warwick has the capability of moumantai - relaxation)
Warwick had carefully caught Lizzy as she had fallen, kneeling to give her the potion. By this time, hours had passed of just walking through the ravine. Lizzy seemed to shudder and reach a calmer state with the acceptance of the potion.
"'Attagirl," Warwick whispered, picking her back up, "We need to get out of this ravine. Connor, do you see a lift or something?" Warwick feared that there was no easy out. Meanwhile, the shadow on the walls seemed to be following the three. Warwick saw it out of the corner of his eye every few minutes and was getting more worried about it.
"Connor, do you see a -" This time, sound accompanied the moving of the figure. Warwick walked faster.
When Lizzy took the potion, her mind instantly eased into calmness, like still lake water in the ocean. Her physical body relaxed, taking her out of the fetal position, but her mind began to dream. It dreamt of wondrous things, of home, the sky, water, and warmth. Inside one of her dreams, she was sitting in the mossy rock behind the water fall in the Vigrid Roughlands, and a feeling of immense comfort washed over her, like she knew about a secret that no others did. It was very peaceful, and she leaned against the wall as she watched the water fall, her hair growing damp with the mist that came upward. She hugged her legs and rested her chin over them, hardly blinking because of the moisture already in the air, as she continued to gaze at the water that seemed to glow. But the she sighed and lowered her head, changing her view from that of a waterfall to that of her lap. If only her friends and family were here to share this wonderful dream with her, then it would be true paradise.

As soon as her mind realized it was a dream, the thoughts she had in her sleep dissolved like the water droplets in the air, and she was once again alone, floating in a dreamless scape.

Her physical body sighed sadly, and once again curled up into the position that she knew all too well.

Warwick picked Lizzy back up, barely able to cradle her in his small arms. Walking almost blindly, Warwick followed Connor's bobbing head into the ravine. Warwick didn't see that the path he had followed Connor down wasn't out at all, but he did realize that things had gotten extremely darker.

"Hey, Connor?" Warwick asked, "Are we going the right way? I don't remember it this dark, or anything...Is there a lift?" Warwick's armed ached, but he barely felt them scream. He walked sideways in order to walk without having Lizzy bump into a side of the narrowing corridor. Warwick walked further until he found himself walking on actual flooring. There was a roof over his head. Warwick carefully leaned Lizzy against a wall. Connor was out of sight. Warwick picked Lizzy up again, this time finding more space to see things. He walked down well-lit hallways and past statues staring down at him, all Valencian. Warwick had a feeling that he was in the wrong place.

"Lizzy, wake up," Warwick pleaded, tapping her cheeks, "Come on, please." His voice grew a tremor, and he bit his lower lip impatiently. If there was anything that he feared most, it was not knowing a way out of somewhere that could cave in. He himself felt like caving in at that moment.

The farther they traveled into this unknown territory, the worse Lizzy's nightmares became. Her hands latched onto the scales of Warwick's armor, her knuckles turning white as she began to murmur with discomfort. She kept on shaking her head, a troubled look on her face, and every time Warwick set her down, she seemed to give up hope, looking like she was at a loss. The pale girl grew even paler as her nightmare became almost unbearable. Almost. But she dreamt on, unable to escape the prison within her mind.

Lizzy panted, blonde hair fluttering behind her like a flag as she ran into darkness. She dodged and weaved in between large black pillars of something that she couldn't see, though her shoulder clipped one of the hard things and she ended up being thrown into a position facing the thing chasing her.

Chills shot up her body, and she curled into Warwick, searching for something to comfort her.

She was looking into the glowing red eyes of a clockwork, a devilish grin on its face as its fingers reached towards her with the nimble hands of a puppetmaster. The armada captain laughed and took her entire body into one hand, making her feel smaller still. The clockwork grew and so did his voice. "There is no escape. Surrender or die." Lizzy struggled in his grip, yelping and screaming as she began to lose hope.

Lizzy began to quiver and twitch, whimpering sounds escaping from her.

The scene changed, and she found herself bound into something cold and metal, unable to move an inch. Lizzy struggled to find her breath, but froze as those beady red eyes came into view. After the eyes came the rest of the clockwork, the normal size of a clockwork captain yet still twice Lizzy's size. She felt pain seer through her arm as the armada captain drew some blood, laughing the whole time, mocking her on everything she felt vulnerable about.

She let out a full-blown yelp this time, but fell silent, still quivering.

The scene changed again, but Lizzy was in a dark space and couldn't see anything but herself and the metal block she was bound to. She waited for something to happen for several long moments, taking in deep breaths and trying to calm herself.

But then a light came on not too far away from her, revealing a small clockwork Lizzy's own size. It raised its head, revealing Lizzy's exact facial features, only these were twisted to have a malicious look about them, evil and sinister. Quick as a flash, Clockwork Lizzy held her dagger and launched herself to the real Liz...

Lizzy leaped awake to find herself crying, Warwick's face being the first thing she saw. She leaped onto a standing position on the ground and squeezed him tightly, standing on her toes to be his height and bowing her head to rest it on his shoulder. A small sob escaped her frame, and she refused to let him go. She had had nightmares before, but none this bad, and she needed comfort. "Please don't let me go." Lizzy murmured quietly, her own hug not changing.

She stood there for several moments, taking in deep breaths and trying to calm down. She finally began to stop shaking, and with a nod, she left the comfort of her friend and backed away, standing on her own.

Lizzy was a real mess. Her hair was tangled and matted and her nails, which were usually polished emerald green, were chipped and dirty. Her clothes were muddy and her eyes were a little red from her crying, her skin pale as the moon and her face hallowed, cheek bones prominent and a tense look taking control of her. She held herself in a small way, one hand resting on the opposite arm's elbow, standing on one foot while the other rested against her ankle. Her head was bowed, and in this light especially it was obvious that she was unnaturally thin.

But she raised her head, taking sight of their surroundings. Lizzy was blissfully reminded of The Laurentine Library, but this was short lived, and she saw the place as cold and unforgiving. "Thank you, Warwick. For taking care of me while I was down..." She blushed as she realized this was the second time that day that she had fallen asleep and he had taken care of her. Her speech, though, was slurred as she was still half-asleep. She raised her gaze and examined the space, but could find no details in the cold corridor that would indicate where they were. The only things that stood out were herself and Warwick, who looked a little worse for wear himself. She and Warwick stood out like a sore thumb in the polished white corridor. Lizzy looked to Warwick, unsure of what to do next.

(Going to back up a little to have Warwick's emotions escalate.)

As Lizzy clung to Warwick, he glanced back down at her in fear. He hated nightmares more than many other things, and it looked like Lizzy was getting the worst of the worst. When she yelped, Warwick skidded to a stop. He collected his remaining strength and put it into his left hand, raising his right arm to wipe the sweat from Lizzy's forehead. Looking back, forward, and then to the sides, he softly kissed Lizzy's cheek.

"It'll be alright," he assured, "Just keep fighting." Despite what he said, Warwick didn't have a good feeling about Lizzy's current state. He jogged through the corridors, armor clinking and breathing heavily. Tears sped down Lizzy's cheeks, making Warwick bite his cheek harder. But then, there was the smallest twinge of movement. Warwick stopped, at last feeling the sheer pain in his arms. Lizzy's eyes opened, making Warwick's jaw drop in both shock and relief.

"It's okay," Warwick stuttered, "D-don't stand up t-too--" Lizzy wrapped her arms around Warwick in a hug. Sure that nobody else was looking, Warwick let the dozens of oncoming tears roll down his cheeks and drip to the loor behind Lizzy. He hugged her back, words nearly impossible to conjure.

"See? You're alright," Warwick choked out, "You're alright." Warwick was just as much a mess as Lizzy was. His face, normally scrubbed at when possible (and only out of habit, Warwick would promise other pirates), was ruddy with grime and tears. His hands, at best bruised, were horribly scraped and tired while his nails were chipped. Scratching his head, Warwick realized that his hair had contorted itself into something that he'd have to cut later on into something odd-looking and patchy.

After the hug, Warwick took Lizzy's hand and led her down the hallways. After a few turns, he heard the hum of something familiar. Peeking into a room, Warwick found a sparkling blue portal, dismantled clockworks lining the edges of the room. Two clockworks, side by side, were maskless.

"Connor found Sean," Warwick concluded, "And they took off. Warwick knelt towards a bit of scrap paper on the floor. He read it easily.

"Come on! Northguard," Warwick read aloud, "That's interesting." Warwick knew that the local folk would be able to help Lizzy recuperate, and he would be able to find food for himself as well. "Let's go."

OOC: Gonna back up a little as well to have Lizzy's reactions.

Lizzy didn't know what had happened, but something that Warwick did while she was asleep made her feel worlds better, her optimistic attitude finally returning for the first time since they had entered the ravine. She honestly couldn't believe that Warwick was shedding tears, as serving in the Navy would seem to have erased emotions, or at least keep them hidden. She smiled all the same, though, to know that Warwick did care about her. She rested her hands on Warwick's cheeks and gently wiped away tears with her thumbs, then gave him an encouraging smile. When Warwick took Lizzy's hand, she glanced downward at the connection.

His hands were raw and sore, scraped and seeming exhausted to the point that his fingers wouldn't be of much use. Then there was her hand in his, free of this (although extremely tired from shaking so much), and she noticed that her hands and fingers were considerably smaller than his. She couldn't help being surprised at the large difference, but followed Warwick down the hall and into another room all the same.

Her eyes were drawn to the glowing blue portal, and she gazed into the sea of cyan, unable to prevent her curiosity. Then she noticed all of the dismantled clockworks on the floor, a chuckle escaping her. Of course Connor and Sean would completely obliterate clockworks in their own camp. She leaned into Warwick to read the note in his hand, then laughed. "I must be really out of practice with reading Grizzleheim's language." Lizzy said playfully, her eyes sparkling. "'Cause that looks like it says 'Happy Bear-Mitsva'."

Then her eyes widened when she realized that Warwick had said 'Northguard', realizing that sense they were in the wizard's part of The Spiral, things operated a little differently. "We pirates have life fountains," She began to explain, "but wizards only need to have gone to the area free of opponents before they enter one with them." Lizzy fondly remembered learning Life magic from one of the warrior bears, knowing that in a remote way, she was similar to wizards. "Let's try something." Lizzy hugged Warwick again to fully connect with him and make sure she didn't leave him behind, then thought of the kind faces of the bears of Northguard, of the wooden and stone castle, of the many trading shops. When she opened her eyes she met Warwick's stone grey ones, but behind him was the rainbow bridge that connected to a Spiral doorway in a large tree. It was late into the night, though, thus there weren't many villagers out. "We did it." She murmured, her head leaning forward in relief, their noses touching. She blushed and leaped away, but kept their hands connected, unable to leave Warwick's side.

Lizzy took Warwick's other hand, deciding that she had had enough of being dirty and tired. She closed her eyes, concentrating on trying to remember the long forgotten (to her) magic of Life. Her troubled thinking expression turned into one of ease as she found what she was looking for. It was a simple spell that did the job quietly, which Lizzy appreciated, as she didn't want to wake up any of the village. She raised their hands again and rested them palm to palm, her hands glowed emerald green for a few moments, then gently faded away. When she opened her eyes, she saw that Warwick was no longer dirty and disheveled. His brown hair had un-knotted itself, which made it look longer, and the dirt was gone, making them both once again pale. Lizzy moved her hand to the side and saw that his hands were no longer raw and sore but rather simply callused, something that would help him in the future.

His expression, though, was still troubled. Lizzy's memory sparked again, and she remembered someplace in Northguard that she would go to when she was feeling down. "Come on, there's something I want to show you." Lizzy led Warwick quietly through the village and to the outside of the wooden walls, then released his hand and leaped across stone blocks in the cyan water that seemed to glow, making it safely to the other side. She gestured for him to follow her, then took his hand again when Warwick did so. She nodded and Warwick walked into a circle of stones that depicted many things in a different language, but she led him through this and opened a door on the other side. Lizzy stopped once she and Warwick walked inside, then linked arms with him, raising her gaze to the ice, snow, and stone.

"I came here every time I needed a break from reality." She explained. Lizzy said nothing more, and gazed on, shivering and pressing herself up against Warwick for warmth. They saw their reflections in the icicles above them, and their feet made a soft crunching sound as they walked through the snow. The whole room seemed to glow, and in the middle of a mound of ice was a large hammer that probably once belonged to the ice giant frozen above it. After taking this all in, Lizzy led Warwick under the arms of the giant and into a smaller area of ice and snow, a small opening in the ice revealing slow-moving cold water underneath. Lizzy sat down in a spot that she had evidently been to a lot, as she seemed to comfortably melt into it. She patted the ground next to her for Warwick to sit down on, and although her jaw clicked from the cold, her face glowed with happiness.

Once Warwick sat beside her, Lizzy pointed above. Moonlight gently filtered in through the snow, making the room glow and the snow above seeming to sparkle like the stars outside. She rested her head on Warwick's shoulder, glad to finally have someone to share this with. Then her stomach growled, loudly enough for Warwick to hear. She gave a cheeky smile. "I'm hungry, what about you?"

Connor emerged through the portal. Smiling, he told the others, "That portal led to Ravenscar. And look what I found here." Connor held out a stone with markings on it for Lizzy and Warwick to see. "A Runestone. Now we can get to Northguard easier. We'll be at the Vigrid Roughlands Bear Camp before you know it." Connor added.

Setting the stone in a magnetic corner of the small room they were in, the Runestone's markings lit up. Connor blinked, not knowing it was that easy. I suppose I picked up a thing or two from Hank, Connor thought. Then his expression changed from smiling to serious as he touched the stone.

"Here I go!" Connor called out.

Connor very essence seemed to vanish, and Connor reappeared in a bear camp. Not Northguard, but the the camp in the Vigrid Roughlands.

(Going to alter events to make things work. First, Connor catches up and goes in. Then, Warwick and Lizzy believe that the portal had altered destination and went straight into it. Now they're split from Connor again. Ideally)

"Connor must have gone to do something," Warwick said, "We'll catch up with him, I guess." Northguard didn't look so different, even if it was a wizarding port. Both locals and humans mingled, trading for food and supplies. Warwick was given a few awkward glances, but he felt that countering with snarling glares made them go away. Wizards scared him. As Warwick felt more at ease, he realized just how badly out of it he was; With every step, his limbs creaked, threatening to drop him at any moment. A pounding headache resounded between his ears.

Warwick snapped back to the present. Lizzy was leading him into some sort of cave, one ice-laden and bitter cold. Warwick exhaled a puff of white, sitting down next to Lizzy. A wave of cool and cleansing made his stomach feel lighter and not as likely to rebel against his wishes, soothing his headache as well. Warwick realized that the magic of the place was affecting him for the better, and he let it, for the time being. He barely felt the cold. When his Tiger Claws touched the snow, they were refined. Looking down towards them, Warwick realized that his hand was still in Lizzy's, though he could barely feel it through his scraped palm. He slowly slid it out and leaned back on his knuckles, Lizzy's head still on his shoulder.

"Yeah, I'm hungry, too," Warwick admitted, "I could go and catch a fish right now. Eat it raw." He considered connecting it to when he harpooned a Flying Fish back in Marleybone, but turned the idea down. He wasn't in the Navy anymore; The dogs weren't his allies and the foxes were no longer his enemies. He was whoever he wanted to be. And doggone it, Warwick laughed to himself, I'll go and catch a fish if I feel like it.

-

Meanwhile, the figure of a wolf ran through the Vigrid Roughlands, picking up the scent of a pirate. Rising to his back to paws, the wolf approached it.

"Well, hello," the wolf said. He found the pirate to not be the one he was looking for at all, "You haven't seen a pirate...one smelling of rust and petrichor? Aquilan armor...tiger claws?"

That blissful, wonderful moment faded at the mention of fish. Lizzy sat up stiff as a board and rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly. "I can't deny that eating a fish raw isn't very appealing to me as I've become vegetarian, but before I changed, the bears taught me how to fish. The ankle-deep in water kind of way. Would you like me to show you how?" She sighed and looked into her reflection in the small puddle of water in front of the two of them. "After we eat, you should really get some sleep. It's been a long day. I'll keep watch, just in case any clockworks come." She rubbed her knuckles nervously, remembering that wolf that had pushed Warwick into the ravine. Her immediate rage deflated, and she instead tilted her head and thought about how to solve the situation. She couldn't imagine why the wolf had something against Warwick, unless he had done something bad in Mirkholm Keep, which he hadn't been in long enough to cause any damage. At least, Lizzy hoped so.

So what was wrong? Lizzy turned to Warwick, and said nothing as she examined his facial features like a map. She saw Warwick grow a little uncomfortable under her gaze, thus she turned away, but she mentally continued her search before his image faded from her mind. Lizzy shivered from the cold and breathed out through her mouth, a small cloud floating in front of her and then dissipating. She hugged herself, gently leaning against Warwick. She pushed away all negative thoughts (including those about eating fish raw), and rather she enjoyed this peaceful moment. She wasn't confident that she would ever get a moment like this again.

"Thank you." Lizzy murmured, addressing Warwick although gazing at the ice giant. She searched for more words to help explain why she was appreciative of him, but couldn't find the right ones, and instead hoped that Warwick understood that she was glad to be here by his side.

Warwick couldn't take his mind off of the wolf, either. As Lizzy leaned against him, Warwick slid his arm out of the way and set it back down over her shoulders.

And then it hit him.

"Unfortunately," Warwick said, "I think I may know why I'm not so liked, here." He gulped. "My general was here a very long time ago. But, his dealings with the wolf folk required...harsh dealings, he said. Can't be good." Warwick chewed on his lip a little. Was he now branded with his general's deeds. He had been told in many places that he still smelled of pewter and dogs. "I don't think I'm wanted here by the wolves." Warwick shakily stood, a new strength in his legs.

"However," he chuckled, "That won't stop me from a fishing lesson."

Lizzy remained silent for several moments, her eyes closed and her head leaning back onto Warwick's arm. Then it fully occurred to her what he had said. "That was your general?" Lizzy bit her lip to prevent herself from saying anything offensive, but she suddenly didn't feel so close to Warwick. Then she reminded herself that Warwick wasn't his general, so he probably would have treated the wolves differently. Lizzy took in a deep breath, repeating that sentence in her head a few times. Warwick is different. Warwick is different. Warwick is different. Once she convinced herself that this was the case, she stood up and smiled to him. She couldn't help but feel like she was having a positive influence on him. If he had all of Mirkholm Keep's wolves on his trail and he still wanted to go fishing? Well, that just seemed like something Lizzy would do.

She softly patted herself down and shook off some snow that had clung to her clothes, did the same for Warwick's back, then took his hand and led him back outside, leaping on the stones and travelling shortly behind the wooden fortress that protected Grizzleheim's trading shops. Lizzy's face glowed as she caught sight of a blue flower whose ice seemed to radiate energy that lifted her spirits, and she crouched down for a moment to examine her favorite flower. "It's called a Frost Flower." She informed, ever so gently reaching out and stroking the bud. Lizzy blushed, realizing that Warwick was still there awaiting a fishing lesson, and she stood back up and went to the edge of the river bank. Lizzy kicked off her boots and rolled her pants to the middle of her shin, gestured for Warwick to do the same, and gingerly stepped into the cold cyan water. The water wasn't very deep and only just barely reached her pants, and she slowly bent down, her hands extended over the still surface water, gazing inward to find some fish.

"The key," she explained with a smile, "Is to be very still... and very patient..." after several minutes of silence, Lizzy's hands plunged into the water and darted back upward, in her hand a salmon the size of Warwick's palm. She grinned triumphantly and turned to show the fish to Warwick, but the fish had other plans. It wriggled and squirmed its way out of Lizzy's grasp, leaped into the air and smacked her in the face, then flung itself into the water with an insulting splash! The smack that the fish had delivered her knocked her off balance, and in an awkward attempt to keep herself standing, she windmilled her arms, which didn't help very much. Lizzy fell into the water, eyes wide and mouth open in shock, hardly noticed that the splash that she had caused had doused Warwick.

For several moments she sat in the water, her expression one of surprise, but then she cracked into a grin and began to laugh. The laugh made Warwick smile, and Lizzy continued to chuckle, unable to stop for a little while. When she finally managed, she turned to Warwick with a beam. "Like so."

Warwick shook the water from his head, sending droplets everywhere. It was a technique that he had learned from the dogs, though he didn't smell as foul. He spent some time unlatching and removing knee and shin armor, then unbuckling and slipping off his worn boots. Wading into the water, Warwick almost backed out in shock of the freezing water if he wasn't acting brave. He stood in the stream, standing at the ready. When he saw the glint of fish scales reflecting the sun, he reached down and grabbed for the fish, missing entirely. This continued for ten minutes of fruitless effort, shrouded completely by Warwick's impatience. Eventually, sheer strength and manipulation of the current landed him with a fair-sized fish in his hands.

"There," he panted, "Fish." Warwick looked to the ground in shame, knowing that he had found a loophole int he guidelines.

Lizzy suppressed a giggle. "That works too." She stood up from the water and gazed at Warwick shaking his hair. Her eyebrows furrowed for a moment as if trying to figure out how to duplicate it, and when Lizzy thought she had it, she went to the shore and shook her head as well. When she had stopped shaking it, though, she looked wearily in front of her, only to find that the world was spinning. She feel pretty hard on her bum, but laughed it off and instead wrung her hair out the way she knew so well how, folding her legs to sit criss-cross. She looked a little green, as if a gross thought had just occurred to her.

"Would you mind too much if I went somewhere else while you eat? I think I know of some berries in Savarstaad Pass..." Lizzy stared at the now limp fish in Warwick's hand.

It's only one fish. She tried to convince herself.

But he's prevented thousands of fish from being born in the future.

You know that's not true.

I know it could be true.

Stop thinking so negatively, then!

Well you're one to talk!

Lizzy bit her lip, unable to look away from the fish. She really didn't want to leave Warwick, but she really didn't want to see him eat a creature that was alive, up until the point that he stepped in. She gave him a peck on the cheek, then turned her back to him before he could see her get misty. "I'll be in Savarstaad Pass. If you need me, just use the coin that I gave you." She turned to look one last time at the Frost Flower, so small and delicate, and wondered if Warwick had even seen it. Lizzy decided that she wasn't going to be bothered if he hadn't, and marched off into Savarstaad Pass.

She strode through the dirt paths and paused at every crossroad, but evidently took the path that she remembered most, although she couldn't help but feel like this place wasn't a clean as the rest of Grizzleheim, as if some sort of dark magic had rested upon this land like morning mist. Lizzy shrugged it off, though, and continued to trudge along.

She shortly came across some red wood imps, but smiled and nodded to them. They were shocked, for some reason, that she was travelling in that direction, and they shook their heads and decided not to attack. Lizzy walked farther into the forest and looked around her to find the trees were covered in cobwebs. She gave an involuntary shiver but pressed on, finding a berry bush not to far ahead. Lizzy plucked some berries from the bush and popped them into her mouth, then saw something glittering inside the bush. She pushed aside some of the branches and ended up finding herself looking into eight black eyes glaring back at her.

"SPIDER!" She shrieked. Lizzy turned to flee, but the spider pounced, pinning her to the ground. Its chelicerae dripped with what she assumed was poison, and she laid, paralyzed in fear, unable to move an inch. She opened her mouth to cry for Warwick, but no sound came out. The spider bared its fangs and began to weave her into what she saw as a web-coffin.

As Lizzy walked away, Warwick glanced down towards the wriggling fish in his hands. He knelt over the stream, letting it go free. The freezing water nipped at the tops of his fingers as it passed, urging Warwick to step out.

"You're welcome," he grumbled, "But I was hungry." Shaking his feet off, Warwick slipped his boots and shin guards back on, fiddling with the buckles before following Lizzy's path. He fingered the coin in his pocket, wondering what it was worth. As he stared at his boots whilst walking, Warwick didn't realize how much of the beautiful pass had appeared around him. Cedar trees fragrant with sap towered over Warwick's head, small birds flying between branches. Rocks were covered in spongy moss, and the worn trails' beaten quality made them easy to walk on. A fishing port just to the side was teeming with activity. The smell of fish caught Warwick's nose, though, and his stomach grumbled.

You really shouldn't have caught that fish, you insensitive git. What did you learn in Marleybone? Nothing? Serves you right. Warwick cringed at the oncoming mental insults, walking further down the trail. Causing him to look up, however, was a flying cluster of red imps, laughing and striking power chords on their harps at Warwick's face. He tried to bat the imps away, watching bears in the distance unsheath their claws and growl at the imps. Warwick didn't know if a tiny person like him would be able to do such a thing.

"SPIDER!" Warwick recognized the voice. He instead escaped the imps by sprinting, something he was less capable of than a solid blow, though he managed. Skidding to a stop near a berry bush, Warwick found a gargantuan spider towering over a half-webbed Lizzy. Warwick backpedaled a few steps, running at full force towards the spider. Leaping into the air, Warwick unsheathed his Tiger Claws mid-flip and landed in a kneel where the spider had dodged. The two fought back and forth, few strikes out of many successful. After a minute's time, Warwick had suffered a spider bite to the arm, though the spider itself was in worse condition.

Radicals, clockworks, and the occasional chicken rogue, Warwick chuckled to himself mentally, But never a spider. Taking one last leap, Warwick landed feet away from the dodging spider, yelling more than growling. He bared his teeth and held his Claws at the ready. To his surprise, the spider backed away. Warwick stood there for a moment, then fell to his knees in exhaustion. The spider was poisonous, indeed. Warwick crawled to Lizzy and began tearing away bits of the webbing.

"I'm awake," Warwick joked, pulling of the last restrictive strands.

Lizzy turned her head to the side slightly and gazed at Warwick, unable to speak. Her eyes were wide and, in a way, glazed over, similar to the look that a young lamb might have after looking into the hungry yellow eyes of a wolf. After she was free of the webbing, she sat up and rubbed her arms. Her whole body was tingling and she was shaking worse than she ever had before, charging her with enough energy to have escaped and taken out the spider herself, but her fear had prevented her from doing so. Her fear was a dangerous flaw, one that had nearly made her spider chow.

"Thanks." Lizzy spoke, as if only vaguely aware of Warwick's presence. She lowered her head in shame and gazed at her knees, unable to bring herself to look Warwick in the eye. Lizzy's friend had just fearlessly charged into battle against a spider that was bigger than he was, won at the cost of being bitten, poison now seeping through his veins, and she couldn't muster anything more than a stupid 'thanks'.

She leaned into Warwick helplessly, and only just now noticed his wound. "You're hurt." She said, her voice small and weak, hardly more than a whisper. Lizzy stood up, still shaking, and helped Warwick to his feet, then rested one hand on his shoulder and the other on his arm, guiding him in the direction of the water at the entrance of Savarstaad Pass.

When they reached the river, Lizzy walked behind the waterfall and sat at the bank with Warwick, then she reached in and put some water in her palm, then gently cleaned his wound, getting blood and poison on her small hands. Lizzy cleaned her hands, dried his wound, then sat on her heels. She didn't really know any other way to help, and did her best. When she did all she could, she crawled to a stone wall and leaned against it, holding her elbows at gazing blankly at the waterfall, her face expressionless.

She opened her hands in her lap and gazed at each of the lines, her small, nimble fingers and her bony knuckles and wrists. Lizzy rested her right fingertips on her left palm and glided them around, feeling all of the different marks that showed her history. Her hands weren't very strong and she had almost no calluses, but the ones that she did have were right below her fingers and directly above her palms, the skin that would rub against her daggers most often.

Then she raised her gaze and caught sight of Warwick, sitting at the bank. Lizzy went over to him and sat next to him, shoulder-to-shoulder. "I... I'm sorry, I don't know where I am." She brushed her hair to one side, then absent-mindedly began to braid the long blonde strands, then conjured a hairband out of nowhere, keeping the braid the way it was. She couldn't help but seem disconnected, which she was, after her life nearly ended because of a spider.

"Warwick?" Lizzy asked. She almost couldn't continue, afraid of the answer. "Do you... do you think that I'm weak? What do you think of me as, exactly? How do you see me?"

As Warwick walked, his mind barely registered how Lizzy was reacting. Sounds had been dulled, and rapid chills created goosebumps all over his arms. A pounding headache was in full force by the time Warwick and Lizzy had reached the waterfall, and the cold water prevented him from closing his eyes. Warwick cringed as Lizzy cleaned his wound, but he knew it was for the better. He pitied all of the field nurses ducking behind barrels during open combat back in his Navy days.

"How do you see me?" Lizzy asked Warwick, joining him at the back. He had used his good hand to splash water onto his sweat-laden face. Warwick thought hard, something almost impossible due to his headache. He wasn't sure if his eyes reflected his pain or not, but he hoped that it would go away in time. His stomach churned. Lizzy had gotten into predicaments requiring rescue several times, Warwick noticed, and if he had still been in the Navy, he would have labeled it and passed it off. However, there was something about the Grizzleheimian girl that stood out. Lizzy had a sense for things, and the common sense in particular that Warwick lacked. Feeling dizzy, Warwick laid down on the ground, closing his eyes.

"You're a life-saver more than I could have ever been," Warwick concluded, his voice just barely a croak. However, it echoed between his ears. Squeezing his eyes tighter together, Warwick put his good hand over his eyes. "Head doesn't feel good," he said. He prayed that it was just the reaction to his nearly overwhelming fear fighting the spider and not the actual poison.

OOC: Of course, I derp and forget to check this roleplay. Oh well. I read it pretty quickly, and as far as I know, Lizzy and Warwick are in Northguard again, catching fish? Derp, I think so. Anyway, I'll try to make a post that can catch up.
~
Connor was startled at the sound of the voice. It was a large jackal. Er, no, a wolf. Connor narrowed his eyes at what the wolf said next. Narrowing his eyes, he tackled the wolf, knowing full well who he meant. He had seen this wolf shove Warwick into the ravine, and Connor was intent on avenging him. He swiftly delivered a full course of kung fu, and knocked the wolf out. Searching through him, he found something of worth to him. Connor took it, but didn't take it's supply of food, for even though he wanted to avenge Warwick, he refused to leave a helpless creature to be left for dead. Connor could have roughed the wolf up more but he didn't. He said to the wolf, who by then was coming to, "Today you live. I could have completely avenge Warwick, but I didn't. You are lucky I show clemency to some of my lesser enemies."

And then Connor left for Northguard.
~
OOC: This is a short part, sorry. I just wanted to show that Connor has clemency to his enemies, and can show remorse for what he did earlier in the role play.

OOC: No derp about it, I get the same way sometimes. Btw here's a little warning: I literally woke up less than ten minutes ago, so my writing may not be as good, but this is the only time I can write before the next update...

Lizzy's eyes widened. She had been called many things in the past, but never a life saver. She snapped into full attention and tended to Warwick some more, making him as comfortable as she could and using his fur cape as a blanket for him. Lizzy sat on her heels by his side, both of her hands picking up one of his own. "You should get some rest." She rubbed her eyes. I should get some rest too.

No. What if you have another nightmare?

I can't take any more of those. She agreed.

To help keep herself company (and to keep herself awake), Lizzy began to speak when she thought Warwick was asleep. (OOC: He doesn't have to be. ) "I went to Marleybone, once. I was visiting a friend of mine in the Isle of Dogs; a free trader who made gold and spread the ways of The Resistance at the same time. It was during the time of the war, and when I was on my way to leave, I decided to watch for a little while. I climbed onto the tallest building I could find and sat there, just watching the war. It was terrifying."

She paused for a little bit, reflecting different things that had happened during the time while trying to keep her emotions intact. "I saw entire ships blown to smithereens. Lives lost, of both Foxes and Dogs. And what was the point of all of this war? To keep the dogs in a position of power." Lizzy had to suppress a cough, remembering all of the polluted air of Marleybone, especially compared to the near overwhelming amount of oxygen of Grizzleheim. "Veterans went home to families, and couldn't even look them in the eye as they told them that they had lost a family member... Forever. Wives lost their other half, children became orphaned, and younger siblings were left to fend for themselves in the Marleybonian environment. I've never seen anything like that in my life." Lizzy's eyes were no longer looking at Warwick, but rather she was gazing at the scenes she described with the little girl's eyes that she had seen them through. She didn't really know how to continue on the subject, so she changed it.

"A few months later, I went back to Skull Island and met up with my sister-in-arms. You might know her, as she said that she was once your First Mate. Sarah Steele told me many war stories as we dueled, telling me many the adventures of a 'stalwart but spirited Pirate Captain', who wouldn't let anything get in his way." Lizzy came out of the past and looked back down to her friend. "She would be proud of who you have become, Captain Warwick Orleans."

She turned away and splashed some water in her face, hoping to continue to stay awake. Lizzy shortly stood up to gather some berries, then returned in a matter of minutes with a bowl of berries large enough for the both of them and set it down by Warwick, but took none for herself.

When Lizzy returned, Warwick was sitting up. Some of the poison had been attended to in his system and he was slowly regaining energy. His limbs ached.

"I took out a galleon, once," Warwick said, "Just Steele and I. Not a Radical ship, though; One of the Armada vessels." Warwick remembered the event and told it aloud as he recalled it.

-

"Captain!" Sarah called from the deck, "Are you sure this is a good idea?" Warwick spun the wheel and nodded. He was a little younger, then, and less scarred. Nonetheless, he was heavily armored and carried a large battle-axe to defend himself with.

"If the Armada notices us," Warwick grunted, "They'll turn away from the oncoming Golems." Warwick felt the first hits from cannonfire strike the ship. The frigate seemed to shudder for a moment, then speed right back into action.

-

"That operation," Warwick noted, "Resulted in immediate capture. Sarah escaped and ran to Skull Island. I was stuck for months, though. By the time I had been freed, I had been discharged from my services."

-

Warwick was sitting on a stair, regaling his adventures to a few scraggly orphans that had joined him. "Where will you go now?" they all asked. Warwick thought for a moment. He wasn't entirely sure of that, actually. He had expected to stay in Marleybone until the war cleared up and stay in the service.

"I don't know..." he realized.

Lizzy listened intently to his story, sitting shoulder-to-shoulder. She gazed at the waterfall as he spoke, but was watching the events he described. Lizzy sighed when he was done and handed him the bowl of berries. She didn't really know how to respond, and stayed silent for a little while, quietly munching on berries with Warwick. After a few minutes of silence she thought she might have a good reply. "Where will you go now?" Lizzy turned her head to look at Warwick.

So many layers... She thought. And we've only scratched the surface of who he really is. I hope things work out for him, in the end. He deserves it. He's done so much for the people he loves, and so many of the people that were close to him have walked out on him. And Warwick's survived, still moving, still breathing. That takes real willpower.

"You can try and find your parents." She offered. "I... I wouldn't mind. I'll stay here and help clear Grizzleheim of the Clockworks." Lizzy paused for a moment, rubbing the back of her neck. "Or, I could go with you, if you want. I'm sure I can find some way to help you." Lizzy giggled. "I could cook for you. Ooh, I know how to sew! Maybe I could make some pretty curtains for your ship!" She playfully bumped into Warwick, chuckling. Then she sighed, dropping her gaze to her lap. "Of course, that's only if you want me to come." Lizzy popped a berry into her mouth before she could say anything else.

(OOC: It seems my post was overlooked...)

After a while, Alex woke up from her rest. The alchemist had seen enough today- clockworks, darkness, Trinity, manipulating shadows, and all sorts of things. Why had she agreed to this?

Then, she realized, no one was with her anymore. Not Lizzy, nor Connor, not Trinity or Angel, and not even Warwick. None of them were in sight. Had they... Abandoned her? Had Alex's only friend ditched her and run off with new friends, and just left the brunette to survive on her own in the frigid Grizzleheim weather? It hurt like a stab to the soul. The alchemist, who was as mentally weak as physically, couldn't stop a few tears from falling down her cheeks. It nearly became a small cascade, but it didn't as Alex clenched her fist, frowned and narrowed her eyes. Anger flowed over Alexandra in mere moments. Stress tore at her, and the hint of loneliness cowered in the dark, scared of the other two emotions plaguing Alex.

"I don't.. Want to be alone." Her voice was hoarse from not speaking. Her eyes were underlined by dark circles from sleep deprivation, and a sad frown replaced her angry grimace. She crossed her arms over her legs and buried her face in her arms. Lizzy ran off and forgot her. Alex had no clue what to do.

(OOC: I didn't quite know how to jump back in, so Alex got divided from the group but shouldn't be far from liz and Warwick.)

(Oh, no! Here, I know how to get you back in...would it be okay if Alex began wandering afterwards?)

Warwick stretched his arms up, feeling some relief after a long rest.

"I'd love for you to come along," he said to Lizzy with a smile, "I may have a lead somewhere. Or not." Standing up, Warwick splashed more water on his face, starting to walk back into the small bear camp. Walking with Lizzy into Northguard, Warwick could have sworn that he recognized a figure walking over a distant bridge.

"Alex!" Warwick called out, "Alex, it's us! You're alright!" Approaching Alex, Warwick performed a quick and feathery heal upon Alex, smiling. "Glad to have you back." Warwick had taken a handful of Lizzy's berries with him and ate them as the group walked towards what looked like to be the equivalent of a tavern. Within minutes, Warwick caught himself from a rambling story about his Navy days.

"So, Alex," Warwick said, changing subjects, "How'd you turn up on Skull Island?"

(I love how all of our characters have gone through something major and terrifying. It draws them closer together, no?)

OOC: Before I forget to tell you (I'm serious, I can really forget something like this) I wanna tell you guys something pretty cool that happened just an hour ago. My friend, her little sisters, her mom, my mom, and I all went out to our favorite pizza place and we all had a blast. A few of the topics, though, were related to this roleplay. Warning: I am about the launch into a long and boring monologue about my own personal experience, and you may immediately lose interest, but I think you might like it.

My friend's favorite book/series is Divergent (don't know how it's spelled, so I'm making my best guess), and in honor of the next movie coming out soon, my friend wrote on her wrist Four, the name of one of the characters. As a topic of interest and to create conversation, I asked her what Four was about, and she began to tell me. Shortly after she began to explain to me Four's personality, my eyes widened and I interrupted her (as politely as I could ).

"You remember how I told you about Pirate101?"

"Yeah."

"And the message boards?"

"Yes."

"And how I love to participate in roleplays?"

"Yep."

"Remember that one I told you about?"

"Sure do."

"With Warwick?"

*laugh* "Yes!"

"Four is exactly like Warwick!" I shook her shoulder and grinned, then launched into a lecture about Warwick's personality. She gave me playful shove now and then and laughed like a goof at certain things, and when I was done, she raised an eyebrow at me.

"And you're not making this up?"

I grinned at her. "Promise. What does Four look like?"

Turns out Warwick and Four have the same hairstyle, but the similarities in appearance end there.

My point in saying all of this is a question: Des, have you read Divergent?
