FrogFather Friday - Where to go? What to do?

Happy New Year, Pirates, from your FrogFather!

Hope everyone had a very Happy Holidays and received a lot of nice presents and whatnot. As it so happens, FrogFather, myself received a gift for the Holidays - a jump rope. Apparently, my Dear, sweet FrogMother thinks I need to take advantage of my hereditary gifts and improve my figure. I said, “Ma, I don’t like to sweat, it’s bad for business”. So she hits me over the head with my clarinet, and that’s how I “rang” in New Years, my Friends – owww, Frogeddabowdit!

So it’s a new year, a fresh start, and who knows what adventures await around every corner, in every skyway? I might have some ideas, in fact the FrogFather has friends and business associates spread all around the Spiral and he hears things from time to time. Such as when a shipment of spices is coming through the Presidio, or who’s hiding out from whom in Flotsam, or as to why a certain whale might be experiencing indigestion. (I told Max not to throw any wharf rats over the side, but he forgets from time to time that one.)

But let’s put aside what I know, and talk about what you’d like to see transpiral this year on your Pirate adventures. Where would you like to go? What would you like to do? Yous already told me about last year, so now I wanna hear about this coming year, capizza?

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a wind instrument to repair and a lump on my head the size of Mooshu to ice down. Think over what we talked about, and get back to me so we can discuss future arrangements to our mutual interests. And one more thing, if you can guess? Need any clues?? Might it sound liiike….Ohhh, HAVE MANY FANTASTIC ADVENTURES, help one another when you can, and always, always, always respect the Spiral. (And the FrogMother too, if you know what’s good for yas!)

Ciao Time! What’s for Lunch?

A return to Valencia is given but also I would hope for Krokotopia this year. In the future I am really antispating Polaris but I would assume that to be down the road a few years. As for worlds I would like to see in the far off future Zafaria definitely and a revolution world. -Fearless Nicholas Kent

I'd love to go new worlds or explore old worlds in general. I can't really be specific on what worlds I'd like to see, because any would be fine to me. And I'd love to be able to craft one day, or have a special dungeon with special drops. I'm looking forward to what you guys have in store for us.

Michael Radcliffe: "Well Frogfather, that is a hard question to answer. I've been to many places, and so far the prettiest place is Aquila. However, the world I would like to see is Polaris! I would love to see the glaciers and other things in Polaris. Anyways, there is always a prettier world, but as I vowed to a certain person, I cannot reveal that world, knowing very well that if an Armada spy is near, it would put that world in danger. But, you have my suggestion! Polaris would be amazing to see up close, and who knows what we would find there!"

I'd like to visit a spiral world based on modern Las Vegas. Maybe call it Los Vargas? Your three skyways would each be based around different aspects of Vegas and there are so many Vegas based movies to do spoofs of. When you arrive you see the iconic Los Vargas sign: Los Vargas - "Your Gold Can Stay As Long As It Likes".

First would be the New Vargas Strip. Casino islands would have main buildings being versions of notable Spiral locations. The Monquistador would be a monkey themed casino, possibly shaped like a huge golden monkey and run by gorilla and monkey pit bosses. The Buccaneer would be shaped like Skull Mountain and would be run by rats. The Valencia would be a version of the huge machine in Valencia and run by various bad guys dressed up like Armada guys. There could be a water mole casino shaped like Wapu Wui (spelling) volcano with a lava fountain in front like the Bellagio. Add in Aquila, Mooshu and Marleybone themed casinos and you'd have a nice glitzy skyway.

Your main story here would be to stop Finny Ocean and his eleven criminal friends who are trying to pull off a heist that robs all of the casinos. There could also be a new battle wrinkle in that your battle squares could act as modifiers. Each square could have a card so that if you a your companions are all on diamonds then you could get a flush modifier that affects your damage. Or like roulette they could be black and red and a spin could determine if you gain attack or take more damage.

Next up is the Old Vegas strip, full of old school goons that would all know the Frogfather but have fallen out of favor with him. The casinos here would follow similar motifs, but could be run down compared to New Vargas. The law here has led to the casinos not making as much illegal gold, so your story would be to help out Gil Griffin and his SCI (spiral casino investigation) team. Finding clues and tracking down who is behind crimes would be the name of the game.

(continued)

Last is the Resort Skyway, with hotel islands and entertainment. This skyway has numerous pirates on vacation, but remember - what happens in Los Vargas stays in Los Vargas. Here you'll help out vacationers and performers on various quests.

The Hangover spoof - You help three friends who can't remember what happened to them the night before. Fowl (a chicken), Chew (a shark), and Talon (a stork) have lost their friend Pug (a Handsome Dan lookalike) and need help retracing their steps. Along the way you meet Leslie Crow, a slightly crazy bird who lost a bag full of gold.

Honeymoon in Vegas spoof - You help a pirate find his wife, who he is afraid is going to marry a rich rival.

There's a lot more that you can do with the storylines. A lot of things are set in Vegas, and the crazy nature of the city plus the neon visuals would be great to translate over to P101. It's also a way to explore more mini games and battle tweaks. The Armada would obviously be interested in the number one vacation spot on the spiral since a lot of gold would be coming through there, plus it's a way to expand on the various organizations within the game. The Yakooza and the Frogfather would definitely have hands in Los Vargas. Avery might as well.

I'm sure that Ratbeard would be familiar with the world ("No self-respecting pirate would be caught dead here.") Plus, you could also have an El Dorado casino that is based off of the final world that would draw interest from the Armada plus have an owner that would have to have been there in order to build a replica.

I loved Avalon in Wizard101 and would love to go there. Speaking of Avalon, I wouldn't mind a Stag Charger companion...

I would like to return back to my homeworld of Krokotopia so I can be back to commanding the army my parents ( whom are the pharaohs of the pyramid of the sun ) rule. Or maybe an all new world! Something that's really based off of Ireland or Scotland. The closest we got to those two is the world of Avalon, but I want to be more in depth of Ireland. Also I think maybe an Outback/Australian themed world ( not the restaurant though I wish! ) Hawaii themed world would be nice, but maybe later.

What will be next?!

I would LOVE to see us going to Darkmoor! I find myself excited for a dark atmosphere for some reason... I think it's my inner-Slytherin. I am also looking forwards to exploring the mystical land of Polaris. Even though as a rule I generally hate water levels, Catbeard's praise for the fish is very generous, which has my anticipation quite high.

As any pirate, my biggest goal as of this moment is finding all the riches in El Dorado, though, of course!

(P.S. You're seriously the best developer ever LOL!)

As for myself.... well, I would like to travel to Grizzlehiem, or maybe even Wizard City? Possibly outside of the Spiral?

One more- (Why do I always forget things?!)

So in the Terra Primata Skyway, the ribbons extend to the very side of the map, and go on. You can't pass it right now, but maybe there will be a new skyway? Like maybe the Opposition would take over that skyway?

Also, that stormgate at the end of the Avernus Skyway is still a mystery. Could it lead to Darkmoor, Dragonspyre, or Krocktopia?

I would love to be able to fish. There could be fishing rod vendors and bait vendors and fishing lvls. Also gardening would be cool. Some new furniture would be awesome. A tavern to put in your house like a couple other pirates said. Lastly, flag dying.

Hmm, I'd like it if we could go to Grizzlehiem, Krokotopia, and Darkmoor this year. Grizzlehiem was a really nice world in Wizard101, and it would be really cool to see a refreshed version in Pirate101. Krokotopia is just a world I've anticipated coming into the main arc. Darkmoor is a very mysterious place that I hope we get to uncover this year (it's most likely a major stretch, but a Pirate can steal- I mean, dream can't he?).

I kinda hope we can see some major side content as well. I know Blind Mew has said he doesn't see doing side content (like a world) a great use of time at the moment (which is understandable), but it would be cool if we could get like a super small side world. Like maybe just 1 skyway the size of Ithaca Skyway or Corsair's Channel with a few islands. I always thought Wysteria would be an interesting world to do a little plundering in, like Captain Avery wants us to take the Spiral Cup. I dunno, but some more adventures on the side would be nice.

On a side note, I also hope we see some new Crew Packs this year (like 1 or 2 new ones). I'd love it to be based off of worlds and themes we'd more-than-likely not go to. For example, going to Khrysalis is probably never going to happen, but it would be awesome if they made a Strange Crew Pack, filled with Khrysalis themed items and Khrysalis Companions. But we'll see what comes in the future.

Let's hope for a year of much growth and prosperity!

See You In the Spiral!

I love to explore any new world or skyway. I never lose that sense of discovery and adventure. That said, I would really love to visit Polaris some time soon. It seems to have a lot of history and lot of political importance. Also, it would be fun to see Nepoleguin again.

FrogFather! I have been taking very good care of your nephew Tricky Vinny, but the lad is growing restless. He watches many of my other crew improving their skills and weapons, and he always asks me, "Why can'ts I has some new guns?" and I always answer, "Not until we hear from your uncle." It's been some time since we last visited, and I'm sure the lad would enjoy seeing his favorite uncle again. Maybe we can help you with something? A favor for a favor, as I recall. Please send word, and we'll fly back on the fastest winds.

~Captain Deputy Silver Angela Everhart

P.S. Vinny isn't the only crew member who wishes to improve. Perhaps others can promote in the new year?

I, of course, would like to see new worlds like Polaris, Grizzlehiem, Krokotopia, and maybe something new and piratey unique to P101. I would like to see more packs other than the tribal crew pack to choose from in the crown shop. I would like for the pirate level cap to be high enough to allow for the side quests xp. I'm a level 65 and just now starting Aquila so all of my future xp is wasted. And this is something small, my kids keep saying when we go to our estate (class home) it would be fun to see our pets and mounts running around outside that we don't have equipped. I also would like to see the gardening and fishing.

Well, I am not maxed out yet, but in the future I would like to see Grizzleheim or Krokotopia. Someone else said before something about Monquista and how it looks like there will be another skyway. What I think would be cool to do with that would be like the opposite of the Tierra Primata Skyway. That skyway is blocked off because of the poverty and destruction that happened there. There are hardly any people living there and it is all broken down and dull, like a lost civilization of monkeys, just not that long ago. The only way you find out is from your next meeting with Gortez. He mentions someone who lives in Monquista who was once a general who was lost in Battle with the Brass Monkey. He was never found, but Bonnie Anne suggests checking the Library in Monquista City...

Good day, Frogfather. I am sorry to hear about the, um, accident to your clarinet. I have a recorder, which I am told has the same fingerings as a clarinet, would that help?

As for me, I am simply looking forward to new adventures and new explorations. I enjoy the curiosity inspired by the Spiral and my story in it. It doesn't matter to me where the adventures are, as I know they will be filled with beauty, delight -- and danger! I am especially looking forward to the possibility of facing down more of the wicked Armada. I expect the encounters with the Armada will grow increasingly serious and challenging, and I look forward to testing my mettle and resolve. And if things don't go so very well for me, well, then I look forward to testing my courage and fortitude. For what is bravery if there is no fear?
