Ship Boarding and Flank Attacks

3/31/15 23:29 PDT Big Sky Skyway – Cool Ranch. I was fighting Black Storm Raiders in Big Sky on one of their ships. I moved Fan Flanders to use her flanking attack and she also moved onto the Black Storm Raider Ship. What was weird was first she did her Flank attack, then her Pirate talent activated (because she was on their ship), and then she completed her attack. Why didn't the Pirate ability activate as soon as she boarded the Black Storm Raider Ship before her Flank attack since she had to be on board the ship to use the Flank attack?
