A few Ratbeard qestions...

Blind Mew told me that these questions were more of your forte, so I was wondering if you could help answer them.

1) Will companions like the Watermole Slingman and Crab Hermit get promotions?
2) Will there be Class Restricted pets like Myth's Humongofrog pet or Balance's Hydra pet?
3) Are there any plans on making ranged pets?
4) Why are some companions like Lost Ranger and Nurse Quinn not in our Pirates' colors?
5) Are there plans to have a pet leveling system or having pets with their own unique ability, like knowing Mighty Charge or Rejuvenate?
6) Are there plans to make some form of Wizard101's Gardening in Pirate101?

I'm afraid I won't be much better at answering those kinds of questions. The short answer is that we'd like to do everything on your list-- eventually.

We have to balance between new systems (like gardening, crafting, or PVP matchmaking), new content (new worlds and quests), and in addition to that, expanding on what we have already implemented (new tiers for old characters).

I can answer #4 though:

Usually if a companion doesn't match your crew colors, it's a bug; you should report it so our artists can look into it.

Sometimes a companion won't match your crew colors because they don't have enough bits and pieces to color!

And sometimes we just don't want a companion to look different than it looks in the game. For example, if we granted you The Duck of Death (don't get excited, it's just an example!) I don't think it would look right to take him out of his black outfit and put him in pink polka dots.

Ratbeard, I've requested to have world boss tunes playing when fighting the boss enemies, both in the Skyways and on the worlds' lands before, so answer me this. I noticed that bosses don't have their own music playing when in combat. Will that happen soon? I would love to hear boss battle tunes in Pirate101! Is the composer working on those tunes? If not, because the composer's busy with new tunes, then at least have an additonal "co-composer" (Nice title I came up with, no?) in the crew to work on boss tunes.

When PvP world arenas go live, along with ranked PvP, will they be named, and will they be randomly chosen by computer, or do Pirates get to pick their own arenas to their liking when creating matches?

I was also hoping to get a hold of you while this thread is still fresh, but I was wondering, are there any plans for companion stitching (I really want to go back to older appearances with caracticus and el toro) and/or flag dying. I was wondering if these were things that are to be flexible in the future, or if it is as important and permanent as our PC's class. thx in advance.

Speaking of nurse quinn a lot of people have been saying that she does not look like a pirate at all and i COMPLETELY AGREE i have never leveled her from lvl 20 because she just doesnt qualify as a pirate. I have kept her asleep and dont plan on ever waking her up until KI does something about this give a promotion( that will make her look like an actual pirate) or change the way she looks anything that wil make her better please many people have discussed this in other comments.

Oh, Ratbeard, I have some questions to ask of you if you have the time.

1.) As our Pirates level up, will we be gaining new and updated Talents and Powers? Something like Rough (Rank 4) or a new Charge for Buccaneers like Merciless Charge for example. Maybe moves with 4 or 5xDamage?

2.) Would you be interested in created a supplementary class(es) like Wizard101's Astral Schools, if the level of difficulted called for it? Not sure if you oversaw the Class Creation, but I think this is closests to your gaming forte.

3.) Why was Ridolfo given 3 promotions before anyone else got their's? Was it because there was a design the Artists couldn't resist not included in the game? lol And why are the Privateer class restricted companions Tyson and Tonka given Promotions at lvl 52 before the Pirate could turn that level or is this an unintented mishap to players who bought this companions at level 50?

4.) I think you said you're not in favor of Players waiting until they are of a higher level before getting side companions. Does this necessarily cause any problems in the overall layout you and your team wanted to show?

5.) Book progression and Pirate Level seem to have no correlation with each other. The Level pretty much just stops if there are no more quests to give Experience, right? Would this mean that levels 51+ are kinda already in place, it's just Blind Mew and his crew haven't made enough quests to reach these levels or has your crew set a bar as it is now for the just in case chance someone gets enough Experience?

6.) You've said yourself that with Book 13, 150 new weapons (wow! Planning 200 for 14? lol) will be introduced, including combos for every weapon kind. Would that mean weapons like Staffy/Slashy, Staffy/Stabby. and Staffy/Smashy will be counted as melee? And would Staffy/Shooty weapons remain ranged?

No rank 4's (yet) but lots of new things. I think everybody will be very happy with what's coming next.

Not supplemental classes per se, but more places to diversify your training points? Yes! It's been waiting since day 1. Just waiting for the right time.

Oftentimes we work ahead, with respect to art, animations, and combat stats, and sometimes Designers just can't wait to get them into the game. Chalk this one up to a happy mistake!

Not really. But I do find it frustrating when players insist on trying to outsmart the game and shortcut their way through. (Even if I totally understand it...) I don't think that gold or training points are that hard to come by, and there's really no reason to wait; but it can take players a while to realize that.

We usually have a good idea what level you should be at any point in the story. I work with Blind Mew to make it so.

Yep. If you want you can throw caution to the wind, and totally go Gandalf if you want. Get stuck in and whack away with sword and staff.

Dear Ethan Jenkins, my fellow swashbuckler,

I must respectfully disagree on this point -- I *like* the way Nurse Quinn looks - it fits her image of a rural doctor on the prairie. The way I see it, she's not so much a 'pirate' as your ship's medical officer. After all, she uses her doctor's bag as a weapon, the way an outraged lady might use a large purse. I do however agree that she could really use a promotion, both to bump up her healing powers and -perhaps even more important- boost her accuracy.

I guess i see your point but if they could at least make her look a litle tougher that would be nice and yes accuracy was a big problem with nurse quinn to me it was basically a 10% chance she would make the hit so if her accuracy could get better then that woukld make me

O by the way Ratbeard, are more sniper rifles (like Ol' Quigly) included in that 1,500 more weapons? I hope it comes with sniper shot too :D Or maybe some MB (Marleybone) and MQ (Monquista) guns.

Yes.

O by the way Ratbeard, are more sniper rifles (like Ol' Quigly) included in that 1,500 more weapons? I hope it comes with sniper shot too :D Or maybe some MB (Marleybone) and MQ (Monquista) guns.

Hmm... I don't think so; no sniper rifles. But there is at least one new weapon coming for Musketeers that I think everybody is going to want!

Ol' Quigley was a special case where I was (unexpectedly!) delivered a really cool weapon that I hadn't planned for-- so I was able to take that extra item and give it some TLC.

This does still happen and there will always be interesting and unexpected weapons with each new world-- just no new sniper rifles, yet.

One last thing-- 150 new weapons! Not 1500!

Ratbeard, I've sent a request about labelling Boss enemies not long ago. I got very confused about telling normal enemies and Boss enemies apart in combat. I still couldn't tell them apart and It still bothers me to this day. Is the request still being worked on as we speak? I really want to see Boss enemies labelled, so I, and other Pirates, too, won't be confused about normal enemies and Boss enemies any longer. Thanks!

I noticed something about the text dialogue interfaces. Aside from different looks between the games, the bottom screen text interface used in Wizard101 is notable, but the upper left corner text interface in Pirate101, it's questionable. How did that difference come to pass?

Hey Ratbeard, I have few questions about the some of the new companions on Test:

1) Will the Kurghas Promote in Book 14 or anytime between Books 15 and 16? (Never raised mine past level 57 )

2) Are there any side companions in Marleybone and Aquila besides the Crokogator?

3) Blind Mew said that to promote Jane Canary and Bill Peacock, they both have to be level 60, well what if we only bought one of the two?

Hey, Ratbeard, since the third promotion quest for Ratbeard in the game will be happening very soon, ever considered updating your forum profile portrait soon? Or... will One-Eyed Jack handle this responsibility for you? I'm sure of how he's going to turn out after I clear his third promotion, and I know his new appearance will be great, even tops the second promotion appearance! Gotta keep up with the recent appearances, right?
